Box 40874, Nairobi Kenya ABSTRACT This paper explores the supposition that consultants could improve the success rate of information technology projects in Sub-Saharan Africa by developing the host country staffs capability to apply software quality assurance methods and techniques. We discuss the transfer of software quality assurance technology in the context of a five level technology transfer process model which incorporates the influence of cultural factors.
