Configuration management - a human view A.M. Morgan Morgan-Ellison Management Consultants, 232 Coombe Lane, West Wimbledon, London, SW20 ABSTRACT This paper addresses the key concerns for the control of an Information Technology product as it is being developed and during its subsequent support once it has been created. It considers the problems that a designer faces during the creation period. It takes into account the difficulties of handling what can be a fast growing system which, is continually at the limit of management control. It examines the control problems, the tools and techniques which may be employed and the needs of those who have to live with the growing system, as well as those who help the system to grow.
