Evaluation of the SEI software capability model within an information systems context; in pursuit of software quality V.M.A. Edgar-Nevill Department of Computer Studies, Napier University, Edinburgh, EH14 1DJ, UK ABSTRACT The software process maturity framework is considered in terms of its relationship to key software quality problems within organisations. This paper presents the results of empirical research on software quality project management and organisational issues, across six collaborating casestudy organisations. The evaluation and comparison of the software development environments is undertaken in relation to the SEI model. This work suggested both weaknesses and strengths of the model for information systems environments and these are discussed in relation to other research work published within the subject area.
