Abstract
The Department of Mechanical, Manufacturing and Software Engineering have been running the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Software Engineering for five years. The degree is specifically targeted at producing graduates with strong practical software engineering ability specifically applied to integrated systems. An important feature of this course is the part-time route which is operated in association with local companies. This paper describes our experience with the part-time course, highlights some of the projects involved, benefits, difficulties and compares the academic achievement of students on the part-time course with those on the full-time course. 1 Introduction The Bachelor of Engineering Honours degree
