Abstract
Animation of railway simulator results for a mass transit railway G. Digby, V.J. Strachan Electrical Engineering Dept., University College, ABSTRACT A video animation of the results from a railway simulation is described. The animation techniques used to create the video are discussed. The simulation is for the assessment of the a.c. and d.c. traction power supplies of a large urban mass transit railway. INTRODUCTION Power engineering problems involve a large amount of data. The use of computers has allowed the problems that are investigated to become very large and complex. However interpretation of the results from computer analysis of these problems is very difficult unless visualisation techniques are used. The presentation of results in the form of tables, or even two-dimensional graphs, is no longer sufficient to convey enough meaning about the results. To allow the user to interpret the results quickly and accurately, new techniques are required for presenting them.
