Abstract

During the past few years the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in highway and infrastructure management has been significantly intensified since GIS permits visualization of data and analysis. In this study a GIS based analysis system was developed for defining and analyzing the impact of initial quality levels, identified by performance specifications (PS), on future highway network conditions and costs. In the process of developing a PS methodology, and examining its sensitivity to the various design inputs, maintenance and rehabilitation alternatives, performance prediction and user and agency costs have to be determined. Thus in the development of the GIS system present pavement serviceability and other inventory design values and monitoring parameters were entered into a GIS platform. Such data, geocoded
