Abstract
In river basins with water shortage, integrated water resources management is in- evitable to keep from the shortage. The avoidance of water shortage and the in- crease in river flow rates in urban areas are increasing demands in Japan. The reuse of treated wastewater for demands in low quality and the utilization of groundwa- ter following its nourishment, for water works and for increasing river flow rates are examples of the measures. The management requires the cost-benefit optimiza- tion on the measures as well as the evaluation on improving aquatic environment and landscape in the urban area. The GIS is a powerful supporting tool to obtain the most optimal water resources
