Abstract
Until recently, identification and understanding of active geological struc- tures in the Friuli area (NE Italy) were hindered by the lack of organised data, the very dense vegetation cover and the complex geological setting. We follow a multidisciplinary approach and apply the GIS technology to study the active deformation and estimate the seismogenic potential of ac- tive structures in this earthquake-prone area. We compute high-resolution digital elevation models (DEM) from photogrammetry data. CIS-based surface analysis combined with field investigations reveals a technically ac- tive landscape, with a series of E-W large-amplitude south-verging
