Abstract
Analysis of the blank mould - a transient heat transfer problem in glass forming K. Storck, M. Karlsson & D. Loyd Applied Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Linkoping University, Sweden Abstract The glass forming process studied here is a narrow neck press-blow pro- cess, resulting in a bottle. The final glass distribution of the bottle depends on the temperature distribution and the shape of the panson. If the temper- ature of the panson is inaccurate, a proper distribution of the thickness of the bottle can not be obtained. The mould comes into contact with the hot glass for a certain time, after which the mould is cooled. This sequence is repeated in the calculation until "stationarity" is approached, i e the temperature distribution of the mould is the same before and after a heating and cooling cycle.
