Abstract
Laminar forced convective heat transfer from a heated moving surface to a contained gas flow P.H. Oosthuizen & I. Mirzazadeh Heat Transfer Laboratory, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada ABSTRACT Heat transfer from a hot moving surface passing through a container through which a gas flows has been numerically studied. The gas enters the container through a porous wall section, passes through the container over the hot material and then is discharged through an outlet in the container wall. It has been assumed that the flow is laminar, two-dimensional and steady and that the moving surface is at a uniform temperature. The outer wall of the container has been assumed to be at the same temperature as the incoming gas. The solution to the dimensionless governing equations subject to the boundary conditions has been obtained using the finite element approach. NOMENCLATURE G' = cont
