Abstract
Numerical investigations of the influence of the inclination angle on impinging radial jet heat transfer T. Cziesla, H. Laschefski & N.K. Mitra Institut jur Thermo- und Fluiddynamik, Ruhr- Universitdt Bochum, 44 7#0 Bochum, Germany ABSTRACT Flow field and heat transfer of impinging axial and radial jets have been analysed from the numerical solutions of Navier-Stokes and energy equations. Results show that an axial jet produce larger heat transfer on a small area than a radial jet discharging parallel to the impingement surface. Through the vecto- ring of the radial jets the target area of high heat transfer as well as the total heat flux can be changed. With the jet inclination of 60° the total heat flux for a radial jet may be larger than that for the corresponding axial jet. INTODUCTION Although a large number of experimental studies of heat and mass transfer have been reported for impinging axial jets [1,2], radial jets have obtained relatively little
