Abstract A theoretical study is conducted to compute the electromagnetic field distribution around a radiating cellular phone handset. For simulation purposes, the handset body is modeled by an appropriate 3-dimensional wire-grid structure with a monopole antenna as its radiating source. The governing electric field integral equation is solved in the time domain, using the method of moments. The solution process involves determination of the current distribution along the wire structure hom which the electromagnetic field distribution at an arbitrary point is obtained.
