Abstract
Identification of the complex moduli of orthotropic plates using a mixed numerical/experimental method H. Sol, J. De Visscher, W.P. De Wilde Department of Structural Analysis, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (V.U.B.), 1050-Brussels, Belgium ABSTRACT This paper gives an overview of the evolution of the development of a Mixed Numerical/Experimental Technique (MNET) for the identification of composite material properties at the department of structural analysis at the V.U.B.. Some previous experiences were already presented at CADCOMP 88, 90 and 92 resp. in Southampton, Brussels and Newark. The method is based on the observation of the vibration behaviour of test structures with a very simple geometry (rectangular or circular, thin or thick, plates and beams). The material properties in a numerical model of the test structure are updated in such a way that the model reproduces the observed behaviour as good as possible. The basic principles of the method will be repeate
