Abstract
Optimization of composite bolted joint design A.O. Ankara, E.G. Dara Metallurgical Engineering Department, Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey ABSTRACT An investigation for the development of an interactive computer program for the assessment of strength of a single fastener composite joint in single shear was carried out. Database from previous experimental programs and design sources was evaluated for the establishment of the program. Some experiments were also done with single shear bolted carbon fiber reinforced composite laminates. The suggested computer program models the joint behavior by considering the laminates as homogeneous plates with representative constant Young's moduli and the fastener as a short beam lying on a foundation with constant foundation modulus.
