Abstract
A methodology for the evaluation of the response of sandwich corrugated composite panels has been developed for the design of railway bodyshell structures and bus front end and the prediction of the global crashworthiness. The methodology comprises the evaluation of the equivalent mechanical properties of the panels from the mechanical properties of the single components, the simulation of the structural behaviour considering material and geometric non linearities, and the development of a design tool based on both numerical and experimental results.
