Abstract
Three-dimensional FEM residual stress analysis for ceramic-metal joint plate M. Kurita, K. Yoneda Nagaoka University of Technology, Kamitomioka, Nagaoka, 940-21 Japan ABSTRACT The residual stress distributions in bonded ceramic-metal plates were determined by the two- and three-dimensional (2-D and 3-D) thermoelastopiastic stress analysis using FEM. A silicon nitride plate was brazed to a carbon steel plate. Two kind of specimens of different size were prepared in order to investigate the size effect on the residual stress distribution. The residual stress on the surface of the silicon nitride was also measured by x-ray diffraction. Similar residual stress distributions were obtained in the interfacical regions for the two specimens, showing slight size effect. The stress values measured by x-rays almost agreed with those calculated by the 3-D FEM. In the interfacical region, the stresses calculated by the 3-D FEM concentrated and changed
