Abstract
This paper presents the modelling of a Cu-W composite material stressed by important heat fluxes. The main physical phenomena taken into account are: heat diffusion, copper phase changes (while tungsten remains solid), dependance of vapour production rate on local temperature, and diffusion of liquid copper. Numerical modelling is based on a finite volume technique. The developed model allows one to compute the evolution of thermal quantities inside the material, to predict the erosion rate, ... Finally, comparison of different simulations emphasises the importance of the liquid mass diffusion. 1. Introduction In devic
