Abstract
Direct numerical simulation results are presented and discussed for How and heat transfer in a 2-D plane channel with square ribs on one of the walls. They were obtained with the finite difference/finite element code PEGASE which solves the full unsteady compressible Navier-Stokes equa- tions. Vortices are generated by the ribs and enhance heat transfer. 1 Introduction The issue of turbine lifetime is an important one, particularly for modern turbines operating in high temperature regimes. A cooling design such as ribs may achieve an improved lifetime and complex mechanisms of heat transfer need to be well studied. In this paper, a numerical simulation is presented for heat transfer in a 2-D channel flow with square ribs on the lower wall. A computational fluid dynamic prediction method is proposed, based on the full unsteady compressible Navier-Stokes equati
