Abstract
This work deals with the numerical study of double diffusive natural convection in a two dimensional rectangular cavity filled with satured porous medium. The side walls of the cavity are submitted to horizontal thermal and compositional gradients while the horizontal walls are adiabatic. The Darcy-Brinkman formulation equation and heat driven flow (N«l) are taken into account. The porous medium is assumed to be thermally anisotropic. The influence of thermal anisotropy on heat and mass transfer is studied. The evolution of the mass transfer with thermal anisotropy shows a maximum which is due to the effect of thermal and hydrodynamic vertical boundary layers on solutal boundary layer. 1.
