Abstract
The application of the funding mechanisms of EU regional policy in the ten new Member States is likely to have a significant impact on the environment since more funding is made available via new projects in infrastructure, energy, nature conservation, agriculture and environment. The purpose of the paper is to introduce the results of research into the present use of environmental impact assessments of programming documents. This will provide insight into the future deployment of EU regional development funds in the new Member States.
