Abstract

Modelling the transfer of toxic or radioactive substances in the biosphere, with the aim of assessing the impact of a specified contamination to human health, generally builds on compartment representations. Modelling the accumulation within, and transport between, these compartments relies upon mechanistic and empirical approaches, thus requiring an extensive ability for the implementation of mathematical equations and a handling of very large databases. Starting in the early 90’s, Andra developed, in co-operation with DSI, a programme, which responded to the above-mentioned needs. Technical information, validation and qualification issues and application examples of the current version 7.2 will be presented
