Argentina * CICPBA researcher Abstract San Nicolas, located in the north of Buenos Aires province, Argentina, is a medium sized city with a population of 160,000 inhabitants. It is settled in an important industrial area and its vehicular traffic has steadily increased during the last years. About 50% of the automobile units are more than 10 years old, and they have neither good combustion systems nor catalytic converters. Pollution levels in the center area of San Nicolas City, where the traffic is more intense, have been determined every hour for two years through a monitoring station that measures the concentrations of different pollutants.
