Abstract
Vehicle effects on street canyon air pollution pattern A.G. Venetsanos, J.G. Bartzis, S. Andronopoulos & D. Vlachogiannis National Centre for Scientific Research "Demokritos ", Environmental Research Laboratory, Institute of Nuclear Technology and Radiation Protection, 15310, Aghia Paraskevi, At tiki, Greece Abstract In the framework of developing a new remote sensing instrument for identification of gross polluting vehicles, the CFD modelling approach has been applied to study the effects of parameters affecting the exhaust gas plume characteristics of one and two moving vehicles in a two lane street canyon of width/height ratio equal to 1 with D5 ambient flow normal to the canyon. The calculations have been performed using the ADREA-HF code in a moving coordinate system, with cars and site geometry fully resolved. Single car calculations were performed with the main parameter the car speed and a qualitative comparison is made against existing experimental field
