Abstract

This paper examines the many transformations of Brazil's urban-industrial development model from 1930 to 1990. The principal terminologies used to characterize this model are the adoption of an industrial development ideology combined with a spatial structure transformation. This combination caused an intensive urbanization of Brazil's spatial structure. Thus, we shall analyze the correlation between power structures and spatial organization, focusing on the concept of the city as a development locus.
