Abstract
To find the most common and dangerous organic pollutants in the winter atmosphere of Moscow 4 snow samples were collected in various places in the city. Two "clean" samples from arctic territories of Finland and one from Baikal region in Siberia were collected as background. These samples were also used to detect possible atmospheric transportation of pollutants to the cold regions of the Earth. GC-MS was used as an analytical tool to identify and quantify individual organic compounds belonging to the various classes. As a result more than 250 compounds were detected.
