Abstract
Measurements of Atmospheric Aerosol Within an Urban Plume A contribution to subproject SATURN P.I. Williams, MW Gallagher, TW Choularton, H Coe and K.N. Bower Physics Department, UMIST, P. O. Box 88, Manchester, M60 1QD, UK Introduction Much time has been devoted to the study of atmospheric aerosols in the marine and the rural environment. Their formation, growth and the eventual loss in the presence of trace gases are the subject of many field experiments. However, more interest is being generated in the study of the highly dynamic urban physical and chemical reactor. From such research some of the possible implications are: * the effect on human health; * atmospheric modelling; and * urban air-shed deposition patterns. The results from observations made between 17th November and 18th December, 1997, at UMIST in the city of Manchester are presented here. Measurements
