Abstract
Measurements of Ozone Precursors in Urban Areas and at Highways A contribution to subproject GENEMIS Th. Schmitz, D. Klemp and D. Kley FZ-Julich, Institutfur Chemie der Belasteten Atmosphdre (ICG-2), 52425 Julich, Germany Introduction The aim of this work was to perform measurements of "real-world" traffic emissions for different situations. For this purpose a mobile laboratory was deployed to measure ozone precursors next to the sources. Special emphasis was placed on the speciation of the emissions with respect to the prevailing hydrocarbon mixtures. The data were analysed with regard to the VOC/NOx ratio and the composition of the hydrocarbon mixture. A chemical box model (Euro-RADM) was used to assess the ozone formation from the different air masses. Measurements and results The mobile laboratory was equipped with analytical instruments for NOx, CO, HCHO and Og as well as meteorolo
