Abstract

Operational Forecast of Surface Ozone Concentrations A contribution to subproject GLOREAM Sissi Kiilsholm, Alix Rasmussen and Jens H S0rensen Danish Meteorological Institute, Lyngbyvej 100, Copenhagen, Denmark DACFOS - The model concept In order to be able to fulfill the EU directive for informing the public in case of an exceedence of the threshold at 90 ppb of ozone, an operational forecast system for ozone concentrations in the atmospheric boundary layer has been developed at the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI). The system is based on a coupling of the chemical routine of the EMEP MSC-W oxidant model and DMTs 3-D Lagrangian transport model utilising analysis and forecast data from DMI's numerical weather prediction model DMI-fflRLAM (High Resolution Limited Area Model) (Jensen, 1996). The system is the Danish Atmospheric Chemistry Forecasting System (DACFOS). The system is set up to make 48-ho
