Abstract

Comparison of Photochemical Model Results based on Diagnostic and Prognostic Meteorological Input Data Guest contribution J. Flemming, E Reimer and R. Stern Freie Universitat Berlin, Institutfur Meteorologie, D-l 2 165 Berlin, Germany Background At the Free University Berlin a complex ozone forecast system is being developed, which combines different approaches to the problem: * locally applied statistical models (ARMAX), * locally applied fuzzy models, * regional Eulenan transport modelling (REM3). Each method can be used as an independent forecast tool focussing on different spatial and temporal scales. The statistically based forecast will be locally applied, whereas the Eulerian transport model will predict the large scale development of ozone patterns. Ideally, the combination of deterministic transport modelling with statistical or fuzzy methods would improve the forecast performance. Hence, in the framework of a n
