Abstract
Modelling of Lindane and PCB Transport within the European Region A contribution to subproject MEPOP M.Pekar* and W. A.J van PuP ^ M^C-E, 7772P2, Mo^co^ TWrova ^fr, Pollution of the environment by persistent organic pollutants (POPs) is under consideration by many international bodies: HELCOM, PARCOM, AMAP and the UN ECE Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution. According to the conclusions and recommendations of the Moscow Workshop on the assessment of EMEP activities concerning heavy metals (HM) and persistent organic pollutants (POPs) (WMO, 1996), modelling efforts should be concentrated on PCB- 153, B(a)P, HCB and lindane as a first stage. Description of the atmospheric model (ASIMD) The Eulerian air transport model (ASIMD) (ASymmetric Improved MoDel, Pekar, 1996) coupled with atmosphere-soil and atmosphere-sea exchange modules (Jacobs and van Pul, 1996) has been developed at the mete
