Abstract

Ammonia Emissions in Romania A contribution to subproject GENEMIS E A Lorinczi and Eva Peter str. Cozia nr. 7, 1900 Timisoara, Romania For Romania ammonia emissions are an important pollutant to the environment, estimated from livestock farming, as well as from other sources. The complexity of the problems is enhanced because of the specific agricultural features of many zones of Romania. The territorial inventory of the ammonia emissions, for administrative units from Romania is based on statistical local data (National Commission for Statistics, 1996), using formulae and coefficients developed by IIASA Laxenburg, Austria (IIASA, 1991). Ammonia emissions values have been calculated since 1990. From the point of view of the ammonia emissions evolution, in the period 1989-1996, a reduction can be observed from 378 kt/y in 1986 to 230 kt/y in 1996 (Fig. 1.), due to decreasing livestock activity and
