Abstract
The aim of this research was to investigate the factors affecting distribution and survival of enteric bacteria in the lake. Fecal coliforms were enumerated as colony forming units near sewage inlets from bathing beaches, at different distances from the shore. Counts over distance from sewage origin showed decrease in bacterial concentrations with distance from the source. Bacterial distribution can be explained by hydrodynamic mechanism: in situ studies using fluorescent tracers indicated horizontal currents, which transport the cells from t
