Abstract
A critical presentation of the hydraulic characteristics of the main units of Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) is performed. The paper consists of three parts. In the first part the main theoretical parameters (related to the hydraulics of the STP units) are presented, together with their scope and their use in the design. The second part deals with the determination and application in the design of more representative hydrodynamic information, such as the detailed flow field and the Flow Through Curve (FTC). In the third part conclusions are drawn and suggestions are made for a realistic design of the STP units. 1 Introduction The design of the units of Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) involves both process and hydraulic design.
