Abstract

Undoubtedly, modelling, and especially mathematical modelling, has been of great use in understanding and predicting the functioning of observed complex systems. To some extent, modelling can substitute for expensive measurements (monitoring) and even more costly multi-scenario evaluations in real environments. Modelling can help to avoid real-life dangerous situations, which can jeopardise material, wealth, and even human lives.
