Abstract

The aim of our research was to study the influence of a changing air pollution situation in the Polish Sudety mountains on the cloud chemistry. Hill cap clouds occur in this area (above 1300 m. asl), on average 240 days/year. The chemical composition of cloud water samples was dominated by NCV, SO/, NH/ and H*. A wide range concentration levels was observed with maxima of 2631, 1194 and 2268 peq/1 for NCV, SO/ and NH/ , respectively. Concentration changes within an event were particularly evident during periods of changing air mass identity caused by frontal passage.
