Abstract
This paper is concerned with the development of a theoretical perspective on air quality management and the establishment of a series of theoretical principles of air quality management. In common with a number of other advanced nations the UK is embarked upon a programme to improve air quality. This paper reviews and assesses the theoretical underpinnings of air quality management and within this context considers the effectiveness of the UK programme.
