Abstract
This paper describes the chemical climatology of fog water collected during four sampling campaigns (fall-winter season 1990-91, 1991,92, 1992-93 and 1993-94) in the Po Valley (northern Italy) within the project NEVALPA. The NEVALPA network consisted of seven sampling sites representative of the entire valley. The network was organised according to a common sampling and analytical protocol and used the same type of automated droplet collector at all sites. Despite the high variability of the main inorganic compounds concentration and the wide fog water pH range measured for the individual fog episodes, the fog droplets chemical climatology appears rather homogeneous in space and in time for the four year period of the network activity. The sum of sulphate, nitrate and ammonium concentrations acco
