Abstract
The interaction and possible overlap between the pollution effects generated by different industrial sources influenced by the mesoscale circulation is studied by means of model simulations. A mesoscale, hydrostatic circulation model is used to reproduce the complex structure of both the atmospheric mean flow and turbulence in a region of Central Italy. The pollutant dispersion of two thermal power plants located along the Thyrrenian coast is described by a model integrating the advection-diffusion equation for passive scalars onto an Eulerian grid.
