Abstract
A two-stage streaker sampler was used to collect size-fractionated aerosol samples in Genova. Samples were analysed by Particle Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE). Hourly concentrations of elements from Na to Pb were determined in two districts of the city both in the fine and the coarse fractions . The application of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to the data allowed a first characterisation of major local sources. The application demonstrates the potential of time-sequence streaker sampling and PIXE for identify pollutants sources. The streaker sampler is confirmed as a fundamental tool for urban aerosol source apportionmen
