Abstract
Operable Unit-4 of the Hill Air Force Base, Utah, USA is a steep area covering approximately 50 acres of trichloroethylene (TCE)-contaminated land Due to previous disposal of uncontrolled organic pollutants, a large TCE plume currently exists. The site monitoring work has continued over the past few years to determine the contaminant distribution and the plume movement. A remediation plan using the pump- and-treat technique was proposed for potential recovery of TCE. The modeling results suggested that due to low hydraulic conductivity and high heterogeneity of the subsurface, pump-and-treat may not be a suitable option. However, simulations showed that natural attenuatio
