Abstract
A statistical method for estimating the viscosity in the model of an incompressible laminar fluid based on experimental velocity measurements is presented in our paper. The method of least squares has been used to support the estimation. Various parametric estimation criteria based on the minimisation of difference between the meausered values and those obtained from the model have been considered. In addition, some essential properties of the estimation have been established. An impartial estimate of parameters with a minimal variance can be obtained by a set of experiments under well defined conditions. 1 Fundamentals The systems in processing technologies are predominately dynamic.
