Abstract
The boundary conditions of a river basin were simplified to use the unsaturated flow theory in the analysis of the runoff of actual river basins. The river basin was approximated by a soil column with a constant gradient and thickness. Many calculations were performed to find a soil column where the boundary conditions, permeability characteristics, and depth of soil agreed with the observed hydrograph. The values were most consistent when free runoff conditions were given to the boundary conditions at the bottom of the soil column. The infiltration flow from the last tank of the tank model (a conceptual model equipped with a mechanism of loss) agreed well with the perco
