Abstract
Overland flood flows in an urban bay area are studied by means of a numer- ical simulation model which comprises a 2-D storm surge model and a 2-D overland inundation flow model. First, actual overland flood flows caused by a storm surge are simulated and the accuracy of the simulation results is examined. Next, the main factors of urbanization, buildings, houses and a sewerage system are taken up, and their influence on the characteristics of inundation flood flows is discussed. Through these studies, the validity of the simulation model for inundation analysis is demonstrated and the influence of urbanization on inundation flows is clarified. 1 Introduction Recently, population and property have become increasingly concentrated in urban bay areas both for reasons of
