Abstract
Three-dimensional pollutant and meteorological observations were performed over the main brown coal industrial area in Eastern Germany, using a highly instrumented Do 228 turboprop research aircraft as part of the SANA project. Observed horizontal and vertical distributions of primary pollutants are presented for October 7, 1994, a day with moderately advective meterological conditions with easterly wind. Wide spread pollutant accumulation could be observed just below the capping inversion layer at altitudes between 1 100 and 1300 m asl. The measured pea
