Abstract
The practical implications of local air quality management by reference to a year long air quality study of the Bootle Maritime City Challenge Area in Sefton on Mersey side in north west England is discussed. Emissions estimates were made for this area using a pro rota and estimates from point sources method. These indicated that the primary sources of emission are domestic, road transport and shipping activities.
