Abstract
The paper presents a first evaluation of the data collected in the framework of the European Commission's CORINAIR90 project with regard to the sector Road Transport for the reference year 1990. In total 25 countries have delivered data. Fifteen of these countries used COPERT, a method and model developed for this purpose, which is well described and allows to compare the data in greater detail. The paper compares both the activity data provided (i.e. vehicle fleets and vehicle classes, mileage and mileage split in road categories, fuel consumption etc.) as well as the emission factors used. Then the overall emission results are analyzed and reduced using different parameters (e.g. population, GNP), in order to get a better insight of the differences identified. 1 Introduction In 199
