Abstract
Influence of cloud physical parameters on chemical composition of clouds W. Wieprecht, D. Moller, K. Acker, S. Naumann Brandenburg Technical University Cottbus, Working Group Air Chemistry, Rudower Chaussee 5, D-12484 Berlin, Germany ABSTRACT In this paper we present two-years results from the Cloud Chemistry Measurement Programme, carrying out at Mt. Brocken/Harz (Germany) to assess the influence of cloud physical parameters on the chemical composition of clouds. There are large variations in the chemical composition of cloud water. We found that the liquid water content of clouds predominantly determines the ionic content. The relationship is best approximated by a power function, nearly identically for all chemical species. We observed at Mt. Brocken in cases of cloud lifting an approximately linear relationship between LWC and height above cloudbase. At Mt Grunten (Bavaria) we studied the relationship between LWC and height above cloud base by measurement of LW
