Abstract

Experimental validation of analytically computed sound transmission through single and double glazing A. Tadeu, J. Antonio & D. Mateus, Department of Civil Engineering, University of Coimbra, Portugal Abstract The authors performed experiments to validate the sound transmission through single and double glazing, predicted by analytical models previously proposed by the authors. The analytical model used hlly takes into account the air-solid interaction, and the thickness of the panels need not be limited, as the Kirchhoff or Mindlin theories require. The laboratory experiments were performed by placing test specimens between two standard testing rooms. Comparison of the results showed that the analytical solutions are in good agreement with the experimental results, except at low fi-equencies, where the experimentallymeasured sound transmission index exhibits dips and peaks.
