Piccolo "Department of Elctrical Engineering, University of Naples, Me/z/Zo, ^ ^0^ Fz'scwmo, Abstract Recently, some authors have proposed the use of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) procedure for the simulation of the railway signalling and train movement. The application of above mentioned procedure to the railway electric network seems very easy and at the same time very effective. In fact the basic idea of the OOP is an object which is thought as an abstraction with boundary and meaning linked to the specific problem in study, the traction system is naturally subdivided in objects having network structures such as railway network topology, the OOP permits to model in a simple and suitable way the interconnections among subsystems, the OOP permits to easily operate a large amount of data.
