Abstract
The paper deals with the methodologies of modelling, simulation, computer aided design, analysis, measurements and testing, teaching and training devoted to research on electric rail transport systems. A significant application is reviewed and commented in the paper. Introduction Before the widespread availability of cheap powerful computers the analysis, design and operation of rail transport systems have been performed on the basis of conventional procedures, of the engineers' experience, of the operation of similar existing systems and exploiting the continuous development and improvement of the components of the systems. In the last years strong effort has been produced in order to set up efficient and accurate design methodologies and procedures, in order
